How to Connect a Dual Screen Portable Monitor to a Laptop with the H5 Converter Cable
This guide explains how to connect compatible TUTT dual screen portable monitors to a laptop using
a full-featured USB-C connection, HDMI, or the included H5 converter cable. The correct setup depends
on the available ports on your laptop and whether your device supports video output through USB-C or Thunderbolt.

External Power Recommended
Compatible Models: TUTT S7 Pro | S3 | S6 | F3 | P7 | S7,10,11 | S9
Important: If your laptop does not have at least one full-featured USB-C port with video output
support, such as Thunderbolt or DisplayPort Alt Mode, the H5 converter cable and the required display driver may be
needed. For many MacBook setups, especially when connecting more than one external display, the H5 converter cable
is required for the additional screen.
Connection Options Based on Laptop Ports
Review the connection method that matches your laptop. For the most stable performance, especially with dual-screen
setups, TUTT recommends using external power for any screen connected by HDMI or the H5 converter cable.
Recommended Setup
1. HDMI + Full-Featured USB-C / Thunderbolt
Use this setup when your laptop has one HDMI port and one full-featured USB-C or Thunderbolt port that supports
video output.
- First screen: Connect a full-featured USB-C cable directly from the laptop to the USB-C port on the first screen.
- No external power is usually required for the first screen when using a proper full-featured USB-C connection.
- Second screen: Connect HDMI from the laptop to the HDMI/DP port on the second screen, often marked in red.
- Use a separate USB-C cable to supply power to the second screen.
- External power is strongly recommended for stable brightness, signal, and long-session performance.
H5 Cable Setup
2. HDMI + Regular USB-C or USB-A
Use this setup when your laptop does not support video output through USB-C or Thunderbolt.
- First screen: Connect HDMI from your laptop to the HDMI/DP port on the screen, typically marked in red.
- Power the first screen using a USB-C cable connected to an external power source whenever possible.
- Second screen: Connect the H5 converter cable to your laptop using the USB-C and/or USB-A heads as required.
- Connect the USB-C end of the H5 cable to the HDMI/DP red-marked port on the second screen.
- Use an additional USB-C cable to power the second screen from an external power source.
- A blue screen with connection icons should appear before driver installation.
- Locate and install the required “Display” driver on your laptop.
- If the second screen does not activate after installation, restart your system and reconnect the cable.
MacBook Setup
3. MacBooks with One Full-Featured USB-C + One Regular USB-C
Use this setup for many MacBook M1, M2, M3, M4 series and newer models when an additional display requires
driver-assisted output.
- First screen: Connect a full-featured USB-C cable directly from the MacBook to the first screen.
- No external power is usually required for the first screen when the USB-C port provides both video and power.
- Second screen: Connect the H5 converter cable to your MacBook.
- Plug the USB-C end of the H5 cable into the HDMI/DP red-marked port on the second screen.
- Power the second screen using a separate USB-C cable connected to an external power source.
- A blue connection screen should appear before driver installation.
- Locate and install the required “Display” driver on your Mac.
- Restart your Mac if the second screen does not activate immediately after installation.
Power note: Some laptops may provide enough power for short use, but external power is recommended
when using HDMI or the H5 converter cable. Stable power helps reduce flickering, black screen issues, brightness drops,
and intermittent connection problems.
